I am a literacy nut – hands down! My passion for writing stories began in the womb I’m sure – my absolute favorite thing to engage in! The opportunity to bring stories alive in the heart of a child thrills me to no end – to create that real-life connection and/or an escape, into a glorious world of fantasy. My engagement with children’s literature education, while raising my own babies, has fueled this desire. Later, as an educator, I facilitated remedial literacy intervention and development, glorying in transforming a reluctant reader to a child who seeks hunger for adventure through stories – written, oral and visual.
However, I gravitate to all genres – hence my romance, “A Kiss to Die For”, all about second chances. There are a few more of those on the horizon, as well as the odd non-fiction. “The Mandy Project” is a raw, true-to-life fiction narrative, chronicling the troubling journey through abusive foster homes toward a future filled with hope!
The intricacies and complexities with the English language have always fascinated me, and henceforth, birthed a ravenous thirst for exploration and accuracy. As an adult within professional career endeavors, I strove for mastery in all correspondence, and was often consulted by colleagues to assist with a good “polishing”.
This voracious appetite drove me to post secondary education – ESL (English Second Language) and Sign Language among my accomplished designations. I dove into entrepreneurship – the world of adult education and consulting. I love to share, teach and help others with their personal and professional needs and endeavors.
In nutshell – I am your typical literacy nerd!
